Advice services

Community Places gives free planning advice to people and community groups who cannot afford to pay a private consultant.  We hold outreach advice events throughout the region and the next one will be held on Thursday, 17 October 2019 in the Rural Community Network in Cookstown.

Community Places continues its free planning advice sessions for people and community groups. We’re holding a session in the Holywell Trust, Bishop Street, Derry~Londonderry on Wednesday, 27 February 2019 from 1.00 pm to 4.00 pm.

We're continuing our series of free planning advice outreach events. Next one is in Newry on Tuesday, 5 November 2019 in Ballybot House (drop in any time between 1.00 pm and 4.00 pm).

Community Places continues its free planning advice sessions for people and community groups. Drop in to Omagh Community House, Drumragh Avenue, Omagh on Thursday, 5 March 2020 between 3.00 pm and 7.00 pm.

One-to-one advice with our fully qualified planners on: how the planning system works (applications; fees; enforcement; and appeals); how to comment on or object to a planning application; planning policies; and your local council’s decision making process.

This FREE half day training session updated for 2019 focuses on perhaps the most significant reform to Social Security since the inception of the Welfare State. It provides participants with an overview of which means tested benefits Universal Credit replaces, how entitlement is calculated, how it works for different groups of people interfacing with the benefit and when it will be implemented in the different geographical areas of Northern Ireland. We have been funded to provide Women, Money & Mental Health Sessions for any Community Group based in N.I The session has 3 experts who cover : 1. Financial Advice 2. Menopause 3. Divorce & Separation.

A refresher for those who have already had Advice Pro training and could benefit from further guidance to reinforce their learning and ensure they are accessing all the platform can provide. This course will also be useful to those who are supporting other Advice Pro users in their services to make sure everyone is using the platform in a consistent manner.

These workshops are an excellent method of support for Quality Assessors within member organisations, who have either achieved, or are working towards the Northern Ireland Advice Quality Standard (NIAQS).

This is a great opportunity for fundraisers in Northern Ireland to connect and learn from peers across the local sector, with facilitated group discussion on the fundraising challenges and opportunities facing us all. The morning will centre around how we best use the capacity at our disposal, how we're employing digital solutions to support our work and how we collaborate and support across the sector. Futures Project is a personal development training programme for 16-24 year olds in Northern Ireland and we are looking for participants for our January intake!

Roísín and Chris are launching a new Futures programme in Belfast. This group is open to young people aged 16-24 in the Belfast area. This is an inclusive LGBTQ+ project. The six month programme focuses on; personal development, communication, wellness, team work skills and leadership. You will receive £8 per day you attend, travel costs and child care assistance.
