Community Sports Network’s vision is to promote a healthy, shared & empowered society across Belfast and Northern Ireland.
Our programmes use a range of sports including football, gaelic sports, rugby, multi-sports, boccia, danderball and more. We use sport and physical activity as a catalyst for positive change, with impact on each individual occurring through every one of our key themes:
- Empowering people
- Creating healthier lifestyles
- Promoting a shared future
From 2011-2016, Community Sports Network was the primary delivery body of Sport NI’s ‘Active Communities’ initiative in Belfast, with a team of 24 staff delivering over 500,000 sports opportunities to more than 15000 people per annum. However, since the Active Communities Initiative ended in March 2016, the organisation has since undergone significant change. Community Sports Network now employ a team of Sports for Development Facilitators to deliver programmes primarily in urban and rural areas of social and economic deprivation, targeting under-represented groups including youths, females, people with disabilities, older people and ethnic minorities. Our team of Sport for Development facilitators involved are hard working and fully committed to their “on the ground” approach which enables them to effectively deliver the aim of the organisation. We offer a range of tailored programmes to suit the needs and abilities of your group. With professional Sport for Development Facilitators, we are sure that we will have something for everyone.
