Recovery College students include service users, families, friends, carers, staff and those with an interest in wellbeing and mental health. A peer educator with lived experience of mental health and a staff educator with knowledge of the subject area facilitate the workshops. The essential course to give you an all-round knowledge of housing in Northern Ireland. This course will take place online over six half day sessions.

Gain a basic understanding of the differences between Universal Credit and Housing Benefit.

This one day, introductory level course will provide generalist advisers with an overview of: How to access Social Rented Housing; The rights of Social Rented Tenants (including repair); The rights and responsibilities of Private Rental Tenants and Landlords (including repair); Grants and Disability Adaptation for tenants and owner-occupiers; Specialist/Sheltered Housing; How to access specialist advice and when to refer onward

Universal Credit is the new single means tested benefit for people of working age. however, your Universal Credit award can be impacted by number of different things, such as any savings, investments or assets you might have; some other benefits could impact your award; or if you have any deductions – which includes sanctions. This Lunch and Learn has been designed to help advisers get to grips with the reasons for why sanctions occur, what can be done to prevent them, and the impact being sanctioned has on a person’s Universal Credit award.

An introduction to the housing element of Universal Credit and also looks to the possible impacts of temporary amendments to the system during Coronavirus and how, as these draw to a close, they will impact on tenants and homeowners.
