Voice of Young People In Care (VOYPIC)

Voice Of Young People In Care (VOYPIC) is an independent children’s charity, working across Northern Ireland, from bases in Belfast, Derry-Londonderry, Lurgan and Ballymena. We provide help, support and advice to care experienced children and young people up to the age of 25.

 

Our services continue throughout the pandemic, using a range of technology (eg. phone, text, email, WhatsApp, social media, Zoom, Houseparty, etc) to allow us to support young people at a distance, helping to keep us all safe and connected.

We provide one-to-one support for care experienced children and young people, from providing information and advice about life in care, to being a listening ear for the frustrations and concerns. We offer regular check-in calls with young people in care and care leavers.

We advocate on behalf of children and young people in care, ensuring their voice is heard and they have their say in decisions about their lives. This includes supporting young people to participate in review meetings through video conferencing.

We provide a safe and friendly space for care experienced children and young people to come together, to socialise and to talk about issues important to them. Our Participation Forums have now moved online and continue to meet weekly in all areas.

For care leavers, we offer a range of practical supports, such as help getting groceries and supplies, housing difficulties and access to essential utilities and services.

Our social media channels also provide lots of information and ideas for staying safe, entertained and active while staying in.
