With families, coaches and staff staying home to stay safe, PeacePlayers - Northern Ireland has been able to pivot it’s existing programming of bringing young people from different backgrounds and traditions together through basketball into the virtual world.
Thanks to modern technology, PeacePlayers has redeveloped its Cross Community League (CCL) programme to ensure young people from different backgrounds can continue to connect with their friends while also receiving tips on how to practice basketball, and stay active from home.
On 25th March, despite interfaces and self-isolation, dozens of households across Northern Ireland connected over the first-ever online BIL session. Over 70 young people, parents and coaches came together to show that bridging divides, changing perceptions and basketball practice doesn’t have to stop when we’re staying home and staying safe.
