The College is seeking applications for a Trainer Assessor - Essential Skills (Literacy).

The post holder will provide a high quality instruction, technical training delivery within a specific area of responsibility to achieve learner success. Providing educational guidance and learning support in relation to the respective vocational course they are responsible for. The post holder will observe and assess candidates underpinning knowledge in relation to work based qualifications in specific courses. This is a unique role and entails a number of specific roles and responsibilities.

  • Salary Band 7 - £40,221 - £43,421 per annum

Essential – Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must, at the closing date for receipt of application forms:

1a) Have a University Degree recognised and accepted by the Department for the Economy (DfE) for teaching in the Northern Ireland FE Sector of which the subject area of English forms a minimum of 50% of the subject studied AND Have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent qualification recognised for
teaching in the Northern Ireland FE Sector or be currently registered with the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland (GTCNI).
OR
1b) Be recognised as qualified by the Department prior to 1st August 2012 and are currently in employment as a full-time or part-time Essential Skills Literacy Lecturer/Tutor.

AND

2) Have GCSE English (Grade A*-C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Communication and GCSE Maths (Grade A*-C) or Essential Skills Level 2 (or higher) in Numeracy, or NICATS Access Maths Modules, or any qualifications which are deemed to be equivalent.

AND

3) Either hold or being in the process of completing a recognised assessor qualification, eg D32/33, A1/A2 Assessors, TAQA Award or equivalent, OR give a commitment that you will undertake a recognised assessor qualification within one year.

Desirable – Experience

4) Be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one year of relevant teaching experience of training and assessing within the area of Essential Skills (Literacy).
