About the Role

Bolster Community is seeking a Disability Support Worker (DSW) to support individuals with learning disabilities and additional support needs through the Bolster Buddy service. The role focuses on promoting independence, personal development, and community integration through various social activities, hobbies, and life skills training.

The DSW will work closely with individuals to set and achieve personal goals, enhance independent living skills, and provide a supportive, person-centred service that advocates respect, choice, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

βœ… Service User Support

  • Build and maintain trusting and professional relationships with Bolster Buddies.
  • Deliver individual programmes to enhance personal skills and independence.
  • Support individuals in setting and working towards personal goals.
  • Plan and participate in group and individual activities, ensuring positive outcomes.
  • Promote personal safety, healthy lifestyles, and well-being.
  • Advocate for social inclusion and build connections within the community.

βœ… Administration & Record-Keeping

  • Maintain accurate records of activities, progress, and service delivery.
  • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and reviews of service users.
  • Complete risk assessments to ensure the safety of all involved.

βœ… Health & Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to Bolster Community’s Health & Safety policies.
  • Ensure activities are conducted in a safe environment.
  • Report any hazards, damages, or maintenance issues.

βœ… General Duties

  • Attend training, team meetings, and well-being events.
  • Be flexible to work occasional evenings or weekends when required.
  • Hold a full driving license and have access to a car insured for business use for work-related travel.
  • Actively contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities and additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Passionate about promoting independence and community inclusion.
