To work with young people to facilitate their personal, social, educational and economic development and to enable them to make positive, informed decisions regarding their health and lifestyles, develop their voice, influence and place in society.

Salary is £18,082.08 per annum pro rata.  This is a full-time temporary post from November 2017 - 31 July 2018 and thereafter subject to funding.  Interviews will be held on Monday 16 October 2017.  Please complete an application form and monitoring form and return to Ballybeen Women's Centre by post or e-mail [email protected].

The Young People’s Outreach & Support Worker will be involved in identifying and addressing the health and support needs of young people aged 10-25 years.  The worker will work with the Project Co-ordinator and volunteer Peer Educators in the design, delivery and development of health, social and personal development programmes and other relevant services such as a Drop In service and outreach work on the streets.

Qualifications / Experience: 

OCN Introduction to Youth Work (Levels 2 & 3) or Peer Education qualification – OCN Level 2 or educated to A-level standard or equivalent.  2 years post qualifying experience of working directly with young people. 2 years experience of designing & delivering group sessions with young people. Knowledge & experience of evaluating own practice. Experience of working with disadvantaged & “at risk” young people. Understanding & awareness of the issues affecting disadvantaged young people.  Knowledge and understanding of a range of health & social issues relevant to young people. Knowledge of child protection & confidentiality issues. Possess group work & facilitation skills. Able to establish good relationships & earn the trust of others. Have initiative, enthusiasm to set up & maintain projects. Good organisation, planning & administrative skills. Possess a non-judgemental attitude.  Be enthusiastic & committed. Creative & innovative. Good written & oral communication skills. Used to team working. Computer literate. Flexible & able to work unsocial hours.
