First Aid for Churches Training ServiceThis is a short course in Basic First Aid and has been designed specifically for church members/community groups/organisations, which will give them the knowledge and confidence to deal with a medical emergency or injury that might occur in (or out of) their premises.
Syllabus: Role of First Aider, Assessing a situation and casualty, Checking level of response, Dealing with a casualty who is unresponsive and breathing normally (Recovery position), Dealing with a casualty who is unresponsive and NOT breathing normally (CPR), Use of defibrillators - this includes 'hands on' experience using a trainer AED, Choking, Blood loss and shock, Brief overview of burns and scalds, Brief overview of fractures, Heart attack, Stroke, Seizures, Diabetic emergencies (low blood sugar), Severe allergic reaction (Anaphylaxis), Asthma
Duration A 4-hour (max) course consisting of theory and practical work.
Certification Although there is no formal assessment, the trainer will assess each individual ongoing throughout the course and issue a certificate of attendance.
Numbers A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course. Age limit There is no age limit for those who wish to attend.
