Third Age demonstrates the value of older people remaining engaged and contributing in their own community for as long as possible through a variety of local and national programmes.
The Third Age National Advocacy Programme encompasses three main strands:
- An Independent Volunteer Advocacy Programme which delivers free, independent and confidential advocacy service through trained volunteers to older people who need support or representation in accessing their rights and understanding their needs and entitlements;
A Training Programme in Personal Excellence for Nursing Home Care Staff and volunteers;
- An Information Programme incorporating the website (www.myhomefromhome.ie).
Third Age National Advocacy Programme represents a partnership between Third Age, the HSE and Nursing Homes Ireland.
