SEUPB is responsible for the administration and implementation of the new €1.14 billion cross-border PEACEPLUS funding programme supported by the European Union, the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Government of Ireland, and the Northern Ireland administration.
It was previously responsible for the implementation of the EU’s PEACE and INTERREG Programmes. The body has the statutory remit for managing EU funding programmes within Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, helping to foster peace and prosperity across the region. It is one of the six cross-border bodies set up under the “Agreement between the Government of Ireland and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland establishing implementing bodies” signed on 8 March 1999 (the British-Irish Agreement)
