In the face of increasing extreme weather events globally in Northern Ireland, such as storms, floods, and fires, the need for comprehensive support has never been more critical. While practical assistance and emergency services are readily available, a significant gap exists in addressing the immediate and long-term well-being of those affected. Recognising this, Recover Together NI was established just before the advent of Storm Éowyn to provide dedicated well-being support to individuals and communities impacted by such disasters.
Climate change has led to a notable rise in the frequency and severity of extreme weather events in our region.
Events like Storm Éowyn have underscored the devastating impact these natural disasters can have on our communities, causing widespread damage and disruption.
At Recover Together NI, we are a collective of volunteers and individuals with lived experience, committed to bridging the gap in well-being support. Our mission is to stand alongside those affected, offering peer-led guidance - through our innovative use of the disaster recovery Star approach, practical assistance, and emotional support to help rebuild but lives. We collaborate with local services, government agencies, and charities to ensure a holistic approach to recovery, advocating for the needs of our communities in emergency planning and resilience efforts.
As extreme weather events become more common due to climate change, our work is more vital than ever. We are dedicated to restoring hope, dignity, and community strength in times of crisis and beyond. Together, we recover.
