Cool Choices is an innovative project from Start360, working in partnership with Cool FM, to help young people aged 16 - 24 learn digital media skills, as well as vital skills that will help them get employment in other sectors.
Cool Choices gives young people aged 16-24 the support they need to overcome their barriers to employment throughout the 15-week intensive programme, which includes a five-week work placement at a ‘micro-station’ at Cool FM’s studios, the ‘Cool Academy’.
The two-year project, which started in September 2014, targets young people who are not in education, employment or training. As part of the programme, Start360 supports the young people every step of the way providing employability training and essential skills support.
Another strand of the project is Cool FM’s Media Bus, which tours Northern Ireland six times a year, visiting areas of high youth unemployment. Young people from the Cool Academy are on the bus highlighting the project and the support Start360 can offer
