Clogher Le Chéile

Clogher Le Chéile is a community group comprising the residents of the townland of Clogher, Barnesmore which is situated six kilometres from Donegal town.

The activities of Clogher Le Chéile are co-ordinated by a Committee and include administrative activities such as the hosting and facilitation of meetings; social capacity building activities such as training & mentoring (Information Technology, first aid,  hand crafts, Irish, personal Development); environmental activities such as tree planting and amenity enhancement. 

A major work undertaken by Clogher Le Chéile was the publication of  a  240 page book about the  townland of Clogher  written and compiled by the residents.  The contents of the book, in addition to many  aspects of the history of the townland,  includes its unique natural features; traditional cottage industries; religion in the lives of residents (Church of Ireland and Roman Catholic); wild flowers of the area; garden birds,  individual family histories, short stories and reminiscences written by residents,  Words and Phrases  we use / used to use and very importantly a Poem written specially for this publication.  In addition, the group  took part in the All Ireland ‘Pride of Place’ competition in 2013, and were awarded first place (Category 1)
