Children's Summer Schemes Creative Writing Facilitator - Deirdre Cartmill Alexander

Whether it’s using the five senses to write poems, using fairytales to learn how to shape stories or creating characters from odd shoes, these fun and relaxed workshops will engage the imaginations of kids of all ages.

I’m a published poet and award winning scriptwriter, with many years experience of writing, teaching and editing.

I have experience of working with kids of all ages but these workshops will especially appeal to those aged from 7 to 18.

I’m a facilitator for Poetry in Motion’s school’s workshops and I’m part of the Poetry Ireland Writers In Schools scheme. I’ve also run workshops for the BBC, Artscare, Big Telly Theatre Company, the WEA and youth organisations such as VOYPIC and Council for the Homeless. I hold an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing from Queen’s University.
