Community safety/crime prevention Older people WomenAs Belfast City Council Education and Promotions Officers we need to encourage people to recycle more. We have difficult European targets to meet in the next few years and we need to increase the recycling rate in Belfast as a result. In order to do this we are increasing our education programme and extending it to any adult community group that meets in Belfast. We can come out during the day, at evening times and at the weekends too. All our sessions are free and we can offer a variety of topics. We can cover the basic recycling message, or we can go into detail in a range of topics such as food waste reduction and money saving, packaging issues, grow your own, post-war 'Digging for Victory' etc. We can do a formal presentation or simply visit your group for a chat. We can also offer adult craft sessions including making recycled hand made paper and stitching crafts using up old scraps of fabric.
Call us on 0800 032 8100 or email wasteeducation@belfastcity.gov.uk to book in a session.
See www.belfastcity.gov.uk/waste for more information on waste and recycling in Belfast.
