WOMAD 2014

On November 14th at the Skainos complex East Belfast, we witnessed the finale of the WOMAD Outreach Programme for 2013 with the 3rd WOMAD showcase event.

A shared celebration in World Music Arts & Dance with people from here & far, old & young, laughter & love, moving moments of tears and big smiles of joy and all topped with WOMAD’s unique warm atmosphere it brings to a space…Wonderful Even a rainbow formed over East Belfast at the end.

It has been an amazing first year for the WOMAD Belfast outreach programme which in the space of six months has laid down a very impressive track record in Northern Ireland. With 32 years experience in 28 countries and islands all over the world we never doubted the impact WOMAD would make here. Beyond Skin and WOMAD are now preparing for the 2014 outreach programme which includes a OCN accreditation version of workshop programmes ‘Level 1 Understanding Diversity through the World Of Music Arts & Dance” developed in partnership with Northern Ireland Childrens Enterprise.

As we look over the photos and videos from this year, we smile with fond memories and look forward to WOMAD activities in 2014 including International guest artists in residence, a unique WOMAD Foundation programme and the big news about the WOMAD Festival coming to our shores.
