The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) Myeloma and Lymphoma cancer support group is holding its next meeting on Tuesday 29th May at 12.30pm - 2pm in the Oak Room at the Macmillan Support & Information Centre, Belfast City Hospital, Lisburn Road.

The cancer support group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. Karen Hooper from UCF will be facilitating the meeting.

Paul Downing, Chief Executive of Blue Insurance will be at the meeting to talk about the importance and the complexities of travel insurance for people who have had a cancer diagnosis. Information will be given on insurance companies which specialise in this area and Pauline Suttle from Knock Travel will also be there to answer any questions.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The support group is open to anyone who has Myeloma or Lymphoma, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings areinformal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life."

Light refreshments will be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery on 028 9068 0742.
