The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) Lavender Group - a breast cancer support group for young women - is holding its next meeting on Tuesday 27th March at 7.30pm at the UCF Patient Centre,Eglantine Avenue,Belfast.

The Lavender Group aims to help young women develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. This week Teresa McBride, a life coach and stress management trainer, will be speaking to the group. Teresa will deal with managing emotions and coping with stress and will also answer any questions patients may have.

Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The Lavender support group is open to women under the age of 45 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members.  There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.

“The support group meetings areinformal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said.   Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”

Light refreshments will be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742.
