The Ulster Cancer Foundation’s (UCF) breast cancer support group for young women - the Lavender Group - is holding its next meeting on Tuesday 22nd May at 7.30pm at UCF’s Patient Centre,40-44 Eglantine Avenue,Belfast.
The Lavender Group aims to help young women develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. The meeting will be co-facilitated by Elvira Lowe and Heather Eves. Patricia Smith, a nutritionist, will be speaking about eating well to support the immune system and boost energy levels.
Deirdre Conlon, Care Services Manager, UCF said, “The Lavender Group is open to women under the age of 45 who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, as well as carers, family and friends and we extend a very warm welcome to all new members. There is no commitment to attend each session and everyone is welcome to come as often and for as long as they wish.
“The Lavender Group meetings areinformal and there is no pressure to speak about your experiences; you can just come along and listen to what is being said. Patients in the past have gained a lot from talking to people who are in, or have been in, a similar situation as this can help to reduce feelings of anxiety, fear and isolation and improve quality of life.”
Light refreshments will be available. For furtherinformation or to confirm your attendance please contact Eileen Creery at UCF on Tel. 028 9068 0742.
