Ten marathons in ten days for Cancer Focus

Starting at 8am on August 15, Peter (57) and Harold (33) began clocking up their marathon miles by running run up and down Stormont’s iconic hill, from the main front gates to Lord Edward Carson's statue for 10 consecutive days. 

The stretch measures 0.84 miles each way and the athletes estimate that a return journey will take approximately 20 minutes. They need to run 16 return laps every day to complete one full marathon. 

The 10x10 marathon men are inviting the public to join them on their run.  Complete one leg, one lap, a half marathon or a full one – whatever distance you can manage -  in return for a donation to Cancer Focus. The men are running from 8am every day and finish on August 24.

Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing at Cancer Focus, said: “These men have set themselves an amazing task that will challenge them both mentally and physically, all in aid of our local cancer charity.  Please support them in any way you can, whether that’s a monetary donation or some company running alongside them on one of their ten days.

 “The money raised from this event will help to support people living with cancer in our local community, so we’re asking the public to come out in force and show their support.”

Peter has completed 417 marathons including some in extreme conditions such as the South Pole and has raised more than £500,000 for charity over the years for which he received the MBE. Harold also has an impressive record having run 180 marathons to date.
