Pupils from Mitchell House School in east Belfast got a private viewing of the Big Christmas Photo Sale currently on display at Belfast Exposed.

The photography centre and community engagement organisation is holding this annual exhibition and sale to showcase photographic work by more than 30 amateur and professional artists.

Before the Big Christmas Photo Sale closes on December 23rd, Belfast Exposed is encouraging everyone to come and see the exhibition for those last minute stocking fillers and an opportunity to gift some original art, or own a piece themselves.

With each piece available to buy, proceeds from all sales will go towards the work of Mitchell House, a co-ed special school for children with physical disabilities and associated learning/sensory needs in east Belfast.

With children aged from three to 19, Mitchell House provides a coordinated educational and therapeutic approach by a multi-disciplinary team of teachers, support staff, and therapy personnel.

The school also provides outreach support for physically disabled children and their teachers in mainstream schools through its support service available across Northern Ireland.

In addition to supporting the work of the school, Belfast Exposed’s ‘Big Christmas Photo Sale’ will also help to further grow the influence of the centre’s mental health and wellbeing programmes.

Deirdre Robb, CEO of Belfast Exposed, said:

“Our Community Engagement team works with groups of young people and adults throughout Northern Ireland, showcasing the positive benefits of therapeutic photography. Recent projects and exhibitions have included partnerships with organisations such as TESSA, Diabetes UK, Whiteabbey Area Hospital and WAVE Trauma, among others.

“This year we decided to expand our support to Mitchell House School as they do such amazing work with their students, particularly when it comes to enabling artistic expression. Of course, that’s what we strive to do with this Exhibition and Sale initiative, allowing anyone with a creative flair to share it with us, and the wider community.”

The Big Christmas Photo Sale runs until December 23rd and the gallery is free to visit. For more information, visit www.belfastexposed.org
