‘Sleep Oh Infant Child’ New Music from Malachi Cush This Christmas

As the festive season begins, the soulful notes of Malachi will resonate with families celebrating Christmas as they listen to his heartfelt composition entitled ‘Sleep Oh Infant Child’.

Penned with inspiration drawn from the timeless themes of hope and love that grace the Christmas story, Malachi envisioned that ‘Sleep Oh Infant Child’ would touch hearts and invited the choir to lend their voices to enrich the chorus.

Speaking about his inspiration for ‘Sleep Oh Infant Child’ Malachi said: “At this magical time of year our thoughts naturally turn to the birth of Christ and the radiant star over Bethlehem, so I wanted to create a song that families could connect with, something truly special for the festive season.

"As I composed the lyrics, the idea of a choir elevating the chorus seemed like the perfect addition. Having worked alongside the Omagh Community Youth Choir on a few occasions I knew they were the perfect choice, a group with a remarkable 25-year legacy.

“I’m really pleased with how it has all come together for this song. The intertwining of the choir’s voices alongside Garth McConaghie’s enchanting musical arrangement has created a song that I earnestly hope will wrap listeners with the warmth and joy of the Christmas season.”

For Omagh Community Youth Choir, this single is their inaugural recording for this year and, speaking about the experience, Daryl Simpson from Omagh Community Youth Choir said: “Malachi’s new song is a timely reminder of the powerful message of Christmas. It carries along the innocence of new life and the hope that it brings as we celebrate the birth of Jesus at this special time of the year. Having Omagh Community Youth Choir join Malachi was an honour for our young people and hopefully added a youthful joy to this wonderful song. Hopefully, it will become an annual staple in years to come.”
