Santas sought for festive dash

Children’s charities Barnardo’s NI and Cash for Kids are urging everyone to get their jingle on for the return of Belfast’s second annual Santa Dash on Sunday 1 December at Custom House Square.

Last year more than 200 Santas of all ages and abilities took part in the event to raise funds for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people, and this year’s Santa Dash, which is sponsored by CastleCourt Shopping Centre, is set to be even bigger and better.

Leona McEvoy, Business Development Manager, at Barnardo’s is encouraging everyone to get Santa suited and booted: “It’s not a race it’s just a bit of fun, you can walk, jog, dash or even moonwalk your way around. Anyone can take part, regardless of age and ability and it’s an ideal way for families, friends and work colleagues to get together in festive spirit and raise funds for vulnerable children and young people at Christmas time.”

Darren Fowler, Charity Manager at Downtown Radio and Cool FM’s Cash for Kids said: “Santa Dash has become an exciting addition to the festive calendar for Belfast and we are encouraging everyone to join in the fun. We want to see the streets of Belfast city centre filled with Santas dashing for a good cause –and when you register you even get a free Santa suit.”

Paul McMahon, President of the Belfast Chamber of Trade and Chamber, in support of the event said: “The plans for this year’s Santa Dash look fantastic and look set to draw large numbers of visitors into the City, as well as raising vital funds for Barnardo’s. Last year’s event was hugely successful, great fun, highly entertaining and saw hundreds of residents and tourists enjoy the sights and sounds of festiveBelfast.”

Santa Dash Belfast City will take place on Sunday 1 December starting at Custom House Square at approximately 11:30am.
