Newly refurbished toilet and shower facilities opened at Autonomie's new centre Lilac House (Linked Independent Living and Advice Centre) in South Belfast.

Refurbished accessible toilet facilities opened at Lilac House

Autonomie has opened its newly refurbished accessible toilet and shower facilities. The improvements were carried out with help from Big Lottery Fund.

The facility at Lilac House (Linked Independent Living and Advice Centre) in South Belfast was opened by Trevor Boyle, Project Coordinator at Autonomie. It is now a bright and modern toilet room fitted out with a shower. The upgrade is part of ongoing investment into improving facilities at the centre.

At Autonomie, staff and volunteers work tirelessly to promote the principles of independent living, and young people with additional needs who choose to get involved in the organisation's new What Next? project in partnership with Big Lottery Fund's 'Empowering Young People' will even get a chance to try independent living at purpose-designed units on the premises.

Fit-out of the facilities which will be used by Independent Living Experience facilitators is currently underway at Lilac House with completion due later this month.

The fully accessible three storey centre also has two new bedrooms and a modern fully equipped kitchen which will be used by young people as part of the programme.

The centre also boasts a drop-in room which offers the community a place to stop by and enjoy a cup of tea.
