Re-imaging Ageing: Video Challenge

All-Ireland video challenge to celebrate 2012 The European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations

To celebrate 2012 The European Year for  Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations the Centre for Ageing Research and Development in Ireland (CARDI) in association with Office for Older People, Department of Health in the Republic of Ireland with the support of  the Office of the First Minister and deputy First Minister and the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure is launching an all-Ireland video competition . The challenge is to create a short video clip (60-90 seconds) entitled Re-imaging Ageing: Generations Together. The video should highlight issues about ageing and show how generations working together can create a better old age for all.

The competition is open to third level students and the voluntary and community sector (e.g. older people’s groups, youth groups).  The winning entrant will receive a cash prize of €500 with a runner-up prize of €250. Videos will be broadcast at a prize giving event and other relevant events throughout the European Year of Active Ageing and posted to relevant ageing websites.

Dr Roger O’Sullivan, Director of CARDI, says: “This video challenge is a great opportunity to bring together the generations to highlight issues around growing older. The challenge aims to highlight that ageing is an issue for all of us and working together can bring about new visions of what it means to grow older.”

Entries should reflect what younger and older people:

  • Think about ageing
