Radio Ulster Appeal on behalf of Huntington's Disease Association Northern Ireland

Huntington’s Disease is an inherited and degenerative brain disorder. It is caused by a faulty gene and can affect people in a range of different ways.

Symptoms, which can include mood changes, difficulties with concentration and movement, will often vary from one person to another. Most of those affected will develop symptoms in middle-life, but earlier diagnoses are not uncommon.

The Huntington’s Disease Association Northern Ireland (HDANI) works to support local people affected by this condition. It seeks to help them in dealing with feelings of isolation or vulnerability and to increase wider community awareness of what the illness involves. A key objective of the Association’s work is to provide support and advice to people with Huntington’s Disease and to assist their families as well.
