Music Unite International Youth Day

Music lovers, friends, visitors and the curious we invite you to an evening of music that will merge familiar sounds with the not so familiar, conducted by you the audience.
On International Youth Day a very special Music Unite‬ event as part of the EastSide Arts Festival will take place at Skainos East Belfast, spanning generations and presenting diverse collaborations.

The event will feature Ballymacarrett Defenders Flute Band performing with a diversity of musicians with special guests returning to our shores. Beatboxer Julius Mitchell from Sri Lanka and Flautist Mauricio Velesierra from Colombia. As part of the global #'Youth4Peace campaign young musicians will also be performing at the event.

The last time Beyond Skin held an event at Skainos back in 2013 it was praised by the local community and Skainos management as the best multicultural event ever to take place in East Belfast. The format for this event will be very interactive and promises also to be a night to remember.

#YOUTH4PEACE  - On 9 December 2015, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2250 on Youth, Peace and Security. This historical document is the first of its kind to recognize the positive role young people play in building sustainable peace and to lay out the need for governments and other stakeholders to support young people in this role. The next step is to ensure that this resolution becomes a reality.
Beyond Skin is leading the Youth4Peace campaign in Northern Ireland and we are the all-Ireland representatives and members of UNOY, a network of youth peacebuilding organisations worldwide. Since 2012 UNOY have been working intensively towards adoption of resolution 2250.
