Money for Life training courses

NOW, NI delivery partner for Lloyds Banking Group’s award-winning personal money management programme Money for Life, has announced a series of training workshops for Money for Life’s accredited, training qualifications.

The workshops are aimed at equipping teaching staff and community leaders with the confidence and knowledge to deliver money management sessions in communities.

The training will take place in Belfast in February and March and is entirely free, with allocation based on a first-come first-served basis.

Money for Life training programmes provides online resources and three fully-funded Open College Network (OCN) accredited qualifications known as Teach Me, Teach Others and Money Mentors. These qualifications enable practitioners in not-for-profit organisations, including Further Education institutions, charities, community groups, housing associations and credit unions, to equip their learners and clients with money management skills.

Teach Others is a two-day course where you will learn how to teach a group of learners. Training sessions for this qualification take place on Wednesday, March 26th and Wednesday, April 16th.

During Teach Others you’ll learn how to communicate with your learners, how to assess their levels of financial capability, how to set learning outcomes and how to plan an interactive session to achieve those outcomes. This course has been designed for those who are not qualified teachers, including those working or volunteering in non-teaching positions within Further Education and community workers from charities, housing associations, local authorities and Citizens Advice Bureau. It may not be suitable for qualified teachers.

Money Mentors is a mentoring course to enable you to gain mentoring skills to give one-to-one money management support. Training workshops will take place on Wednesday, February 19th and Wednesday March 5th.

This course has been designed for those working or volunteering in non-teaching positions within Further Education and community workers from charities, housing associations, local authorities and Citizens Advice Bureau. It may not be suitable for qualified teachers.

Teach Me is a separate course which is delivered through an online bank of resources and will improve your knowledge of money management. The course focuses on money management knowledge rather than the theory and practice of how to run a workshop or mentor an individual. If you want to learn how to run money management sessions for groups or mentor individuals you could also take Teach Others or Money Mentors. Teach me qualification &/or resources can be accessed: https://www.moneyforlifeprogramme.org.uk/get-involved/teach-me/

Teach Others and Money Mentors Northern Ireland training courses will take place in Ortus Business Development Agency, Filor building, Twin Spires Complex, 155 Northumberland Street, BELFAST BT13 2JF.
