Looking for work? Jobs Fair back in Belfast on 14 October

Belfast City Hall will play host to an exciting Jobs Fair designed to help those who are unemployed get access to key employers.

The event will take place in Belfast City Hall on Tuesday 14 October from 10 am – 12 noon. Everyone is welcome and pre-registration is required by emailing [email protected]

If you’re confused about how employers recruit and want to hear about current/future job opportunities and how to apply for them, then this Jobs Fair is for you.

Leading businesses including the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust, Convergys, firstsource, IKEA, Mount Charles Group and Tesco will explain what they are looking for in terms of current recruitment and selection processes, online applications, aptitude tests, role-plays and work samples.

Citywide Employers' Forum Director, Deirdre Timoney explains: "We have designed this Jobs Fair to provide real opportunities and practical support to outline what applicants need to demonstrate to be successful in getting that job!

“Many people struggle to understand modern-day recruitment methods and the employers attending, who come from a wide range of sectors, will explain recruitment processes in detail and help demystify some of the challenges applicants face.”

Designed to help people in some of the most deprived areas of Belfast find work and start changing their lives for good, the Forum is sponsored by Belfast City Council, Bombardier Aerospace, the Department for Employment & Learning and Lagan Construction Group. It works alongside community employability bodies to develop business-led initiatives which help those who are unemployed to develop new skills and assist them into sustained employment.

Chair of Belfast City Council’s Development Committee, Councillor Deirdre Hargey said: “The Council is committed to boosting residents’ ability to apply and compete for jobs, access vacancies and develop the right skills to progress in the labour market. Through our Investment Programme, we have been supporting business and community employment links through the Citywide Employers’ Forum. We hope as many people as possible who are unemployed will come along and find out more at the Jobs Fair.”
