KINSHIP CARE NI LAUNCH NEW VIDEO

Kinship Care NI launch new video on their work and involvement supporting kinship carers and their children in Northern Ireland.

There are an estimated 8,000 - 10,000 children in Northern Ireland who are being raised by relatives and family friends because their own parents are unable to care for them.

Chief Executive of Kinship Care NI, Jacqueline Williamson said "kinship carers play an important role in keeping children they love out of the public care system.  They receive little recognition and both they and the children they care for experience a great deal of disadvantage.  This video captures the work of Kinship Care NI and the help and support we provide to kinship carers and their youngsters in Northern Ireland".

The video, which has now been uploaded onto YouTube was launched via the charity's Facebook page and was watched by over 100 people within the first few hours.

Within the next few weeks the charity will open a specialist Kinship Care Support Service in Derry/Londonderry, thanks to funding from the Big Lottery Fund.
