Kinship Care Coffee Morning A Huge Success

Kinship carers attended a coffee morning hosted by Deputy Mayor of Antrim, Brian Graham where they had the opportunity to meet elected representatives and social service professionals

Brian Graham, Deputy Mayor of Antrim hosted a special coffee morning to recognise and celebrate the achievements of grandparents and other relatives who are raising their family and friends' children.

The event was attended by kinship carers, social workers, community representatives and William McCrea, MP.  

Jacqueline Williamson, Chief Executive of Kinship Care NI said 'it is absolutely fantastic to see kinship carers being recognised for keeping their families together. We can't thank Brian Graham enough for helping to raise awareness of kinship care and supporting our work with kinship carers and their children".

Kinship Care NI recently launched a free telephone helpline service for grandparents and older kinship carers in the Antrim and Mid Ulster areas.  The service is funded by the Big Lottery Fund under the 'Reaching out Connecting Older People' Programme.
