IKEA supports natural new homes – for wildlife

Schools and community groups are invited to apply online now for a free pack of native trees for planting this November. The unmissable offer comes from the Woodland Trust’s ‘Trees for the Community’ scheme, supported by IKEA FAMILY.

Groups can choose between packs of 30, 105 or 420 saplings, depending on how much space they have to plant.  There are different mixes of species to choose from too, with a new range of packs themed for wildlife, year-round colour, wood fuel and more.

IKEA Belfast’s Nigel McGarry said: “Tree planting is a fantastic way to enhance local landscapes, making the places where we live, work and play much more attractive.  Trees and woodland also bring undoubted health benefits, while attracting and providing much-needed homes for many precious species of wildlife.

“We want everyone to be able to appreciate the many benefits of trees and are delighted to support ‘Trees for the Community’. We hope that schools and communities across the country will get ready to give their school grounds or shared spaces a helping hand this autumn.”

Each time the IKEA FAMILY card is swiped in-store IKEA makes a donation to the scheme, and customers are helping too by 'pledging a tree' at till points. The overall aim is to plant one million trees throughout the UK by the end of 2013.

The Woodland Trust is encouraging schools, youth groups and community groups to be quick off the mark, as the packs are proving popular.  Apply online now for your free tree pack at www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/ikeacommunitytrees
