Home learning made fun: Learn about consumer rights, budgeting and avoiding scams
To boost interest and engagement for the younger age groups, the online resource includes an activities tracker sheet for parents called ‘Earn Your Acorns’. Children must help Peanut the Squirrel get The Golden Acorn by completing six different activities from the webpage.
Mark Crawford, Head of Consumer Empowerment and Protection at The Consumer Council, said: “We are aware many families are isolating due to COVID-19 and we wanted to help make home learning more exciting for the whole family.
“Our activities webpage is a fun and engaging way for young people to learn more about their consumer rights, budgeting and avoiding scams. There are a range of activities for kids of all ages to complete, including quizzes and crossword puzzles.”
Mark added: “For the young artists in your family, we also have a series of colouring sheets showing Peanut the Squirrel visiting landmarks from across the country, including the Giant’s Causeway in County Antrim and Castle Ward in County Down.”
