Holywell Trust to examine how the constitutional debate in Northern Ireland is reported in the media
Commentator and journalist David McCann will present an overview of his report which contextualises recent local political developments and their impact on the news agenda.
This session is part of Holywell Trust’s Future Relationship Conversations project, which aims to equip the community with accurate and accessible information on constitutional issues in Northern Ireland and beyond.
The series has already heard from writer Paul Gosling on health services on both sides of the border and from Queen’s University academics Professor David Phinnemore and Dr Lisa Claire Whitten on the Windsor Framework. Other events to come in the series include a fact-checking session, envisioning the future from a pro-Union perspective, and the constitutional question in the wider UK context.
Holywell Trust Director Gerard Deane commented:
“This is the fourth event in the latest of our Future Relationship Conversation series, which has been enlightening and helpful in presenting information on topics related to the constitutional question.
“We look forward to David McCann’s seminar. David, as a regular political commentator and writer, has a great deal of critical insight into how this subject is reported in Northern Ireland and can give context to how journalists approach this important issue.”
