Highest Award given to Volunteering Groups

111 outstanding volunteering groups across the UK have been honoured as recipients of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Winners include Suffolk Community Gardens Volunteers, a group of volunteers who develop Suffolk Community Garden by growing fresh fruit and vegetables and rear free range hens at no cost, to benefit the disadvantaged community.

This unique UK national honour recognises the outstanding contributions made to local communities by groups of volunteers; it has an equivalent status for voluntary groups as the MBE had for individuals.

Nominations for the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service 2015 are open and you have until 30 September 2014 to submit your nominations.  So if you know an inspiring voluntary group, visit www.gov.uk/queens-award-for-voluntary-service to find out how to nominate.
