Help DU Dance Youth Groups Tour this Summer

Two leading youth dance groups will be packing their bags and heading out of town this summer to represent Northern Ireland at major international events.

Merge Cru - an exciting Belfast based youth dance group fusing contemporary dance and breakdance to produce unique dance theatre performances – have been selected to perform at the first ever Commonwealth Youth Dance Festival in Glasgow, July 10th-12th.

With 36 different dance groups from across the Commonwealth countries taking part – including Australia, Canada, India, Malta and New Zealand this is a prestigious invitation and an exceptional opportunity for the ten young members of the group. However it comes at a cost! We need to raise £ 2,400 to cover festival fees, flights & accommodation.

The young people themselves are now busy organising fundraising events such school cake sales and pamper sessions but every little bit helps so an online donation page has been set up to help Merge Cru reach Glasgow in time.

Dungannon based Sutemos - Northern Ireland’s only integrated youth dance group have been invited to take part in the Irish Youth Dance Festival, Pavilion Theatre, Dun Laoghaire 28th June.

The group is made up of 13 young people aged 12-24 from five different cultural backgrounds together with young people with educational needs. The group is so excited to have been given this opportunity, as the only group from Northern Ireland taking part, and the chance to showcase their work alongside other youth dance groups from across Ireland.

Sutemos needs to raise £600 to cover their expenses to make this opportunity possible and are busy now arranging discos, raffles and quizzes.

Any amount, no matter how small you can donate will make a big difference for our 13 talented and hard-working young dancers.
