In the Headlines: advice for children, young people and those that work with them about talking to the media
In the Headlines is a resource for children, young people and those that work with or for them. Made by Include Youth, it aims to help children and young people talk to the media positively about issues that matter to them.
The booklet is based on research looking at children and young people in media stories in Northern Ireland.
During the research children and young people took part in workshops and suggested things the media, adults and other children and young people could
do to help change how stories about them are reported.
The research was a partnership between Include Youth and the Childhood, Transition and Social Justice Initiative at Queen’s University. The Economic and Social Research Council funded the project. The research findings are published in Behind the Headlines: Media Representation of Children and Young People in Northern Ireland.
Include Youth made this booklet with young people involved in their Give and Take Scheme and from Woodlands Juvenile Justice Centre. It aims to help children and young people talk to the media about issues that matter to them.
