Playwork in a Youth Work Setting will help youth workers to better meet play needs.

Recruitment is ongoing for PlayBoard's free OCN NI training for youth workers across all council areas in Northern Ireland. Play is vitally important for children and young people and this training, supported by the Education Authority, will help youth workers better meet the play needs of the younger members in their clubs.

Training is available at Level 3 for full-time staff and Level 2 for part-time staff and volunteers.

Embedding play in youth settings, offers guidance and support for youth workers to build upon and develop the play offer within youth settings. The document explores why play is a critical component of children and young people’s lives, its role in developing learning and building essential skills, and its role in creating enjoyable, fun childhood experiences.

The practical aspects of play delivery are also covered with a number of proformas to support youth workers plan for play, and lots of ideas for settings to build on their play offer to help make quality play happen.
