Focus on Fitness with Cancer Focus iPhone App

Cancer Focus Northern Ireland has launched an exciting new training app for the iPhone.

Cancer Focus NorthernIrelandhas launched an exciting new training app for the iPhone. The Focus Fit app allows users to track their run or walk by distance, time and average pace, and users can compete to see where they rank across global and Facebook Friend Leaderboards.

The Focus Fit app is available for download now, free of charge, from the Apple App Store – www.focusfitapp.com.

Cancer Focus is the official charity for Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon 2013 and the Focus Fit app is a first-class aid for anyone who is training for the marathon, walk, fun run or relay.

The Design Zoo in Dundonald created the app and will also be taking part in the relay section of the marathon in aid of Cancer Focus. Gordon Campbell, Design Zoo, said, “We have all been training for the marathon using the Focus Fit app and have set-up our team up for the big day by using the unique relay feature."

“As team captain I'm able to quickly remove and update the team’s leg positions or organise a team training session via the app. At the end of the event we're really looking forward to reviewing each others legs of the relay and to see where we rank against other teams on the leaderboard.”

Joyce Savage, Head of Appeals and Marketing, Cancer Focus, said, “We are thrilled to be launching this new app for our supporters to use. It is perfect for training for the Deep RiverRock Belfast City Marathon and other running or walking events.

“You can use it for audio motivation and feedback, to track your training and challenge yourself and your friends.

“There’s also a Donation section to the app, which allows you to easily send your JustGiving and donation text code details to your friends and family.  We want to encourage as many people as possible to download Focus Fit and help raise money for Cancer Focus at the same time.

”Cancer Focus is a Northern Ireland charity – we were previously known as the Ulster Cancer Foundation – and we have been providing services for local people for more than 40 years. Among the many services we offer are one-to-one counselling, support groups, helpline, a family support service, a driving hospital driving service, Sing for Life choir, art therapy and creative writing. We spend all of our money locally and rely almost entirely on the general public to raise our funds. That’s why we’re asking people to run the marathon for us in 2013.”
