Education Charity, Camara Benefits from Aurion’s Marathon Efforts

After donning their running shoes to take part in the Belfast City Marathon Relay earlier this month, staff from Aurion Learning presented a cheque for £445 to education charity, Camara.

The Aurion relay team completed the 26.2 mile race in 4 hours, 10 minutes.

Funds raised by the online learning and development company will help Camara improve education and livelihood skills in marginalised communities in Africa, the Americas and Ireland using technology.

Since it was founded nine years ago in Dublin, 700,000 children in poor communities have achieved digitally literacy with Camara’s help.

Speaking about the achievement, Ciaran O’Hare, Director at Aurion Learning said:

“Having donated computer hardware to Camara earlier this year, Team Aurion wanted to go one step further and raise funds and make a tangible difference to improve digital literacy skills for those in disadvantaged communities.”

He added:

“As an E-Learning organisation, we think that the work Camara does is important and of benefit to those in the communities they work in. We are glad to support them in their efforts to make 2 million children digitally literate by 2016.”
