Does Northern Ireland have an Open Government? A Survey

On behalf of the Open Government Partnership network in Northern Ireland, the Building Change Trust has commissioned Rubicon to undertake an initial scoping of the views of the VCSE sector and others, and make recommendations on the way forward.

As you know in 2008 Building Change Trust was established by the Big Lottery Fund with £10million as an investment for community capacity building and promotion of the voluntary, community & social enterprise (VCSE) sector in Northern Ireland.  This will be both invested, and spent, in full by the 31 December 2018.

The Trust supports the VCSE sector in Northern Ireland through the development, delivery of, and learning from a range of programmes. One of the Trust’s strategic themes is Creative Space for Civic Thinking through which it seeks to support the sector’s role in enabling citizens to participate in and have greater influence over decision-making processes.

As part of that work, Building Change Trust wants to explore the potential impact for Northern Ireland of the international Open Government Partnership (OGP) initiative.  During spring 2014 the Trust organised a number of events to raise awareness of the OGP and, due to the high level of interest these generated, in June the Trust convened a network of VCSE sector representatives and individuals interested in exploring this further.

On behalf of the network, the Building Change Trust has commissioned Rubicon to undertake an initial scoping of the views of the VCSE sector and others, and make recommendations on the way forward.

As part of that scoping, a fairly short survey is attached (it is mostly tick boxes) designed to help Building Change Trust and the nascent open government network understand your level of awareness about, and views on, the Open Government Partnership initiative.

Your replies are encrypted and they are totally anonymous - responses are aggregated so that no one will see any individual response.

Please help us by participating in what we think is a potentially very important piece of work involving civic society engaging with government.

Just click on the link below and it will provide further explanation and take you straight to the survey:

Thanks very much for your help. An overview of the findings of the scoping study will be launched at a public event in late September.  Details will be provided shortly.
