Following the success of our Relaxed Performances the Millennium Forum are proud to announce our inaugural Dementia Friendly performance on Friday 18 December at 7.30pm.This is a performance that we adapt in various ways to make more accessible to people with dementia.
Most importantly we ask every audience member and staff member to be tolerant and accepting of the fact that people with dementia will express enjoyment of the show in different ways.
The attitude to noise and movement is relaxed, and we ask anyone who buys a ticket for this performance to be supportive of this.
People with dementia can become isolated from their community. Not solely because of the condition but they are worried that people will not have an understanding of dementia or that they will be treated in a way that is negative or insensitive.
The Millennium Forum recognises and embraces the challenges that a life with dementia presents to both people with dementia and the people who support them.
Dementia Friendly Performances are designed to create an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere for people with dementia and their families to make their visit to our Theatre a little easier.
