Consumers should shop around following Click Energy price increase
The increase, which comes into effect on 12 July, will see a typical customer’s household electricity bill rise £48 per year from £496 to £544.
Richard Williams, Head of Energy of The Consumer Council said; “This 9.68% increase from Click Energy is disappointing news for their customers. Although consumers may not be thinking about their energy bills during the recent good weather, this may be a good opportunity to shop around for a better deal.
“Switching supplier could result in savings of up to £118 per year for the average Northern Ireland household. We have a free energy price comparison tool on our website (http://www.consumercouncil.org.uk/comparison_tool/begin), or consumers can call us on free phone 0800 121 6022 for advice. Consumers should also factor in any additional incentives offered by suppliers.”
For further information on switching, The Consumer Council have produced a ‘Switch On: Electricity and Natural Gas’ guide, available for free from www.consumercouncil.org.uk or by calling 0800 121 6022.
