The Consumer Council urges Northern Ireland businesses to get a free Water Bill Health Check

The Consumer Council is urging Northern Ireland businesses to get a free Water Bill Health Check to ensure they are being billed correctly and to identify opportunities to save money, following the announcement from NI Water that non-domestic water and sewerage charges will rise by 2.7% on average from 1 April 2019. 

Graham Smith, Head of Water Policy at The Consumer Council, said: “We encourage any business in Northern Ireland to get a free Water Bill Health Check. This free and easy health check will provide you with a simple breakdown and explanation of your water bill. It will ensure that you are being billed correctly and will help identify opportunities for you to save money on your water bills. If appropriate for your circumstance, we will also provide some water efficiency advice. We have helped Northern Ireland business save over £57k through our Water Bill Health Checks since April 2018. 

“Any increase is unwelcome, however we are glad that NI Water has listened to its business consumers and are limiting the increase below that available. We will continue to work with NI Water on the affordability of its services.”
