Kinship Care NI are holding an event ‘Celebrating the Culture of Kinship’ on Saturday 22nd March in the Verbal Arts Centre, Derry/Londonderry from 1pm - 4pm.

Funded by the Big Lottery Fund under the Culture for All Programme, the event will bring family members, friends and communities together to share in the personal experiences and achievements of children and young people who are being cared for by extended family and friends.

Children and young people will learn and develop new skills and work alongside their kinship caregivers and people from their communities to explore the culture of kinship and what family means to them.

'Kuddles' the Kinship Care Bear will be there, children and their carers will perform the 'Harlem Shake' and there will be lots of other activities, including arts and crafts, storytelling, dancing, face painting and balloon modelling.  Children and young people will also make kinship bracelets, a kinship blanket and share their journeys through the use of photographs.  Refreshments will be provided.

The event is FREE and open to everyone.  So why not enjoy a family day out and celebrate the importance of family with children and young people in kinship care.
