Cancer Focus Northern Ireland autumn support groups

 The next myeloma support group meeting on Tuesday 25th September at 12pm - 2pm at the Macmillan Information and Support Centre, Belfast City Hospital.

 The support group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment.

 The guest speaker for this meeting will be Claire Mason, Oncology Physiotherapist, Belfast City Hospital, who will talk on ’The Benefits of Gentle Exercise’ and give a general overview of physiotherapy for myeloma patients. Karen Hooper from Cancer Focus will be facilitating the meeting.

 Cancer Focus is also holding its next prostate cancer support group meeting in the north west on Wednesday 26th September at 7.30pm in the Agnes Jones House, Altnagelvin Hospital.

 Nutritional Therapist Jacqueline Cartin will give a talk on ‘Nutritional approach to living with prostate cancer’.

 The meeting will be facilitated by Cancer Focus Counsellor Theresa McSwiney and Oncology/Urology Nurse Specialist Kerry Chambers.

 The next generic cancer support group meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 2nd October in the Boardroom at Craigavon Area Hospital.

 The generic cancer support group aims to help patients develop a holistic approach to living with cancer and is complementary to any ongoing medical treatment. Occupational therapist Samantha Managh, who works with cancer patients at the hospital, will talk about managing fatigue. Mary Hawthorne, Cancer Information Nurse, Cancer Focus, will facilitate the meeting.
