Call for CineFocus young film critics aged 12-18

Do you enjoy watching films? Would you like to see new films from around the world? Ever thought of being a film critic?  If so, this year’s Cinemagic ‘CineFocus film jury’ is for you! The Coca-Cola Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People is  recruiting a jury panel, of 12-14 year olds and 15-18 yr olds, to watch and judge a series of in-competition films during the Cinemagic 12-25yr olds Festival programme in Belfast this November.

The young film critics will meet in Odyssey Cinemas and Queen's Film Theatre, Belfast, where they will enjoy a feast of film over the course of the festival  and choose the winning films of the which will be announced at the annual Cinemagic Gala Awards ceremony on 28th November in Belfast City Hall.

The CineFocus 12-14 yr olds will present the Emerald Reel Award for Best Feature Film for a Teenage Audience and the CineFocus 15-18 year olds will present the Golden Reel Award for Best Feature Film for a Young Adult Audience.

CineFocus film jury members will have the opportunity to meet other young film fans, meet filmmakers and industry guests and play a key role in Cinemagic Belfast 2013. The CineFocus panel will get the chance to watch films from around the world, which will be screened in their original language with English subtitles where necessary. These include  THE ROCKET, directed by Kim Mordaunt, which tells the tale of a boy who is believed to bring bad luck to everyone around him and his fight to change this view;; JIN, the new film from Reha Erdem, Turkish cinema's great maverick movie-maker; TOUCH OF THE LIGHT, a moving real-life story of renowned Taiwanese piano prodigy Huang Yu-siang and BRAVEHEARTS, a poignant Norwegian documentary portraying the generation marked for life by the events of the July 22, 2011 massacre.

The CineFocus film jury offers young people the chance to meet others with a similar passion for film, to discuss and debate, and to make new friends, whilst expanding their understanding of the different genres of film.”

All films will be screened in their original language with English subtitles where necessary. The cost to participate  is £10.00 per person. Film schedules will be forwarded to participants once they have registered.
