The Buffaloes of Northern Ireland present Alzheimer’s Society with a cheque for £13,500

The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes is a social and benevolent organization whose aims are to aid members in need and to support external charitable and philanthropic groups in the local community.

At the Grand Lodge of Northern Ireland this week, the final total of £13,500 was presented to Alzheimer’s Society. This was raised by a full calendar of events and collections throughout the previous year. 

Caroline Greer, Alzheimer’s Society said: ‘We are absolutely delighted with the impressive final total raised for Alzheimer’s Society inNorthern Ireland. On behalf of the charity I would like to express our sincere thanks to the Buffs – the money will enable the Society to continue providing services for people living with dementia across the Province and champion their rights as well as the thousands of people who care for them.’ 

There are currently 17,700 people living with dementia inNorthern Ireland, however research has shown that only 1 in 3 receive a formal diagnosis so this could be a gross underestimation - Dementia is a health and social care priority forNorthern Ireland.

Alzheimer’s Society relies heavily on the generosity of groups like RAOB to help support people to live well with dementia today and fund research to find a cure for tomorrow.
