Get the gift of a handy budgeting tool to help you manage Christmas spending and plan for expenses in the year ahead

The Consumer Council is providing some timely Christmas budgeting advice as research shows almost a third of consumers (30%) are worried about their ability to make ends meet now, but even more consumers (37%) are worried about their ability to make ends meet in the future.

The Consumer Council Christmas Budget Planner will help consumers plan their budget for gifts and food shopping.

Philippa McKeown-Brown, Head of Consumer Empowerment and Protection at the Consumer Council said: “For many people, Christmas is a special time of year, but with the cost of presents and food shopping, it can also be a financially stressful time.  Setting and keeping to a fixed budget can ease your worries and will reduce financial strains that can last well into the New Year.

“Likewise, to mark Financial Capability Week (Monday 14 – Sunday 20 November), we urge consumers to make effective budgeting one of their New Year resolutions. Our Home Budget Planner is a step-by-step guide to helping you manage your monthly income and outgoings.”
